Additional Details

Featuring a long editorial by Karl Marx, credited only as "An Occasional Correspondent," titled "The American Question in England." Marx probes the motivations behind the English press and "their ill-concealed sympathies for the South, which looks rather strange on the part of people affecting a utter horror of slavery." The Tribune was then a steadfast Republican Party paper, though in the intervening years Marx and the Republican Party have become estranged.
